The Office of University General Education offers two foundation courses in general education, which require students to read influential classics from the humanities and the natural sciences, and to reflect on major issues of human concern in small-group seminars (https:// www. cuhk.edu.hk/oge/gef).
We are seeking Lecturers with a strong background in natural sciences or engineering to teach the foundation course “In Dialogue with Nature”. Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in a natural science or engineering discipline; (ii) a high level of competence in both Chinese and English, in both spoken and written language; (iii) in-depth knowledge of some of the classics in natural sciences, and (iv) a strong commitment to teaching and the pursuit of knowledge. Familiarity with some areas of philosophy of science, history of science or science, technology and society would be an advantage.
The appointees may be assigned to teach other courses offered by the unit. They will be expected to contribute to curriculum development and enhancement of teaching and learning in general education.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to two years commencing January 2025, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement.
