Lecturer, Prosector and Academic Lead for Learning Resource Development (Learning, Teaching & Scholarship Track)
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer, Prosector and Academic Lead for Learning Resource Development to contribute to the delivery of an excellent student experience by leading resource development for the Human Anatomy teaching, as well as contributing to teaching, assessment, and administration processes associated with undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will also support scholarship activity to enhance learning and teaching in Human Anatomical Sciences.
The School of Medicine, Dentistry & Nursing is renowned for pioneering teaching methods and superb facilities for undergraduate and postgraduate study. The School of Medicine, Dentistry & Nursing is part of the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences.
To contribute to the delivery of an excellent student experience by leading resource development for the Human Anatomy teaching, as well as contributing to teaching, assessment, and administration processes associated with undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The postholder will also support scholarship activity to enhance learning and teaching in Human Anatomical Sciences.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Lead on the preparation of, and manage, a new (physical and digital) anatomy teaching collection and provide specialist technical advice for other academics. Responsible for developing innovative approaches to human tissue dissection, ensuring high standards.
2. Lead on resource development to meet teaching and assessment objectives; this may involve blended or online provisions.
3. To play a key role in and oversee the legal, ethical and Health and Safety aspects associated with developing and utilising teaching resources (physical and digital).
4. Lead the acquisition, set up, and maintenance of equipment/systems and the design of analysis strategies, in line with teaching objectives.
5. Carry out scholarship and data analysis to help optimise resource use and inform approaches on educational strategies.
6. Contribute to lab-based teaching, supervision, and assessment activities across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within the Subject/School.
7. Carry out appropriate administration (record keeping, resource allocation management, legal or legislative requirements) within required timescales ensuring effective communication of information.
8. To actively engage and collaborate with colleagues at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow to develop clinical educational resources from surgical training courses.
9. Contribute to the on-going development and design of teaching innovations that supports a research-led and scholarly approach to student learning and assessment across the entire human anatomy portfolio.
10. Develop effective working relationships with colleagues and students and, in partnership with relevant student services teams, respond appropriately to the diverse range of learning approaches and learner needs.
11. Engage in continuing professional development activities as appropriate. (E.g. Monitor standards and technical developments in providing educational resources and continue to expand knowledge and skills base through appropriate and tailored courses).
12. Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Head of School.

A1. Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 12 (PhD) or equivalent in Human Anatomy and/or teaching experience.
A2. Up-to-date knowledge and sufficient breadth in understanding human anatomy with an ability to engage the interest and enthusiasm of colleagues and students to inspire learning within the subject area.
C1. Ability to communicate on materials of a specialist or highly technical nature and be effective both orally and in writing at a level appropriate to the activity.
C2. Awareness of the importance of policies and procedures relevant to a university sector and related sectors.
C3. Demonstrated commitment to open research, as appropriate to the discipline, through open data, open code, open educational resources and practices that support replication.
C4. Proven commitment to supporting the career development of colleagues and to other forms of collegiality appropriate to the career stage.
E1. Previous experience of human anatomical dissection techniques for educational, research and display purposes
E2. Interest in, and experience of, the use of multimedia and digital technologies for the purpose of teaching human anatomy to a range of programmes including, science, medical, dental, and nursing students.
E3. Experience of project management/leadership involving responsibility for reaching milestones and outcomes.
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 7, £39,347 - £44,263 per annum.
