  • About the position

    The School of Education has a long and distinctive history of progressive and socially engaged teaching and research in education. The School provides for the professional preparation of teachers and educators in early childhood, primary, secondary, community, outdoor and higher education.

    A Level B teaching and research academic is expected to develop curriculum, teach and undertake research or other scholarly work relevant to the development of their discipline or professional field.

    The position holder will have a strong understanding and experience of designing learnings on a range of platforms with a strong understanding and application skills in digital learning. The position holder will have a research track-record, scholarship of teaching outputs and a program of research that will inform evidence-based approaches to research projects, course, and teaching delivery.

    The incumbent will be required to undertake travel to other La Trobe University campuses.

    Skills and Experience

    To be considered for this position, you will have;

  • PhD or equivalent accreditation and standing recognised by the University/profession as appropriate for the relevant discipline areas.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing humanities curriculum and pedagogy in initial teacher education programs, and an understanding of current research and trends that inform quality teaching standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing innovative curriculum using evidence-based approaches for quality learning opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with industry leaders in education to develop opportunities for course and research collaborations.
  • Demonstrated competence in teaching and curriculum development.
  • Evidence of high quality and/or high impact research conducted and published or otherwise disseminated, and/or scholarship of teaching outputs, relative to opportunity.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, or co-supervise, honours and postgraduate students.
  • Sound analytical skills with an ability to communicate complex information clearly both verbally and in writing.
