The role
As part of our mission to develop and expand our portfolio, we are looking for an inspirational, dynamic, and practice-focused Lecturer in Real Estate to join our team.
The ability to manage your own workload and work proactively is vital in this role, along with the ability to inspire, motivate and connect with a range of different stakeholders such as our students, other academic teams and external clients.
You do not need extensive experience of teaching; this is a great opportunity for an applicant with senior industry experience and a desire to inspire the next generation of real estate professionals to embark on a career in academia.
The post involves designing and teaching Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Apprenticeship modules in areas related to the RICS' Commercial Surveying Pathway to Chartered Membership, in order to deliver a challenging and engaging learning experience to our students.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can show experience of teaching and/or practice in one or more of the following areas:
• Real Estate & Property law and practice
• Valuation & real estate investment management
• Commercial Real Estate
We will also consider applicants with a genuine interest in developing a specialism in these areas.
You should have an awareness of the current trends and developments in the Real Estate sector, both nationally and internationally. An ability to teach into related areas of Sheffield Business School would be an advantage.
Preferably, you will have some existing Higher Education teaching experience, but this is not essential, as support and training will be provided where necessary. You must have professional practice experience in Commercial Surveying, or a closely aligned role, given that our applied courses are closely aligned to industry.
Our courses are accredited by RICS and staff members are encouraged to be active in this space.
