The Psychology department has significant modern laboratory and research facilities to support the group's teaching and interdisciplinary research activities, including the Centre for Mind and Creativity Research, and Migration and Mobility Research Network.

Currently, we have an opportunity for a Lecturer in Psychology to join us and support the subject group with teaching requirements for a period of maternity cover on a guaranteed hours basis, for 12 months.

The Role:

As a Lecturer in Psychology, you will have the opportunity to join our vibrant Psychology team and take responsibility for delivering teaching and student- centred learning, underpinned by academic scholarship and professional practice within your assigned areas of responsibility.

These will include contributions to our undergraduate BPS accredited Psychology and Psychology with Sociology programmes, with the potential to contribute to our BPS accredited MSc in Applied Forensic Psychology, and our MSc in Applied Criminology and Forensic Psychology.

As a multidisciplinary school with an excellent record in applied research and teaching, we will support you to go beyond traditional boundaries, working with others internally, across the wider university, and externally to foster an inter-professional, collaborative approach to educational delivery from the outset.

Further to this, you will find yourself making a profound and positive impact on the experience of our students as you use your initiative, creativity and judgement in applying appropriate approaches to teaching and learning support and scholarly activities.

What we will need from you:

We will look for demonstrable evidence of teaching expertise in Psychology and we would be keen to receive applications from candidates that complement or enhance the expertise of our team.

You will also need:

  • A doctoral level qualification in Psychology
  • Evidence of experience developing high quality teaching/learning and research programmes and have experience of research-informed teaching.
  • Evidence of teaching and learning enhancement initiatives you have developed or been involved in which will directly support the University Strategy of enhancing student experience and increasing graduate employability.
