This opportunity would ideally suit an experienced Band 6 or above Occupational Therapist working in the NHS (or equivalent) that has expertise in formal teaching, training, and supervision. This post is well-suited to those considering a move into a teaching role.

If you have any questions and/or would like to meet the team, you would be most welcome to our open events. These will be held on Wednesday 6th November at 16:00-17:00hrs and Thursday 21st November at 16:00-17:00hrs.

In this role, you will be involved in supporting the delivery of our degree apprenticeship provision based in Sheffield and with occasional travel to the North West (Manchester) working on the Occupational Therapy course and inter-professional portfolio.

As a Lecturer, you will be able to inspire our students and make a valuable contribution to their learning experience, whilst preparing them for contemporary occupational therapy practice.

You must be an HCPC-registered occupational therapist and have well-developed and current knowledge and understanding of critical, practical, and theoretical issues relevant to contemporary practice.

Ideally, you'll be at the forefront of new ways of working in the NHS, in either primary or secondary settings, demonstrating care innovation and emergent management pathways. We have a team of lecturers to deliver our apprenticeship provision, and it would be envisaged that you would be part of this innovation, contributing to occupational therapy education in higher education, whilst retaining strong links with employers and practice partners.

The Degree Apprenticeship programme is delivered in weekly blocks interspersed throughout the year encompassing hybrid delivery made up of 2 days on-site and 3 days online.

Our main base is at Sheffield Hallam University where hybrid working is our normal practice (online or on-campus) and with occasional travel to the North West (approximately 2 days per month).

The role also requires you to contribute to our pre-registration apprenticeship course through teaching, assessing, academic advising and academic citizenship.

The ability to inspire, enthuse and connect with a range of backgrounds is required. You will support students' academic, and placement learning progression and work collaboratively to enhance the student experience.

The School of Health and Social Care is one of the UK's leading teaching centres of pre-registration health education and one of the first universities to offer Allied Health Professions Degree Apprenticeship Courses. We are growing our occupational therapy team due to continued expansion of our teaching portfolio.

Our teaching team has a range of expertise in all areas of occupational therapy and is responsible for a distinctive and high-quality education portfolio which includes the BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy, BSc Occupational Therapy Degree Apprenticeship, MSc Occupational Therapy (pre- registration) and MSc Advanced Practice in Sensory Integration. In addition, the team contributes to cross-department and cross-College teaching including inter-professional education provision and CPD provision.

We offer a diverse range of benefits and opportunities to pursue a rewarding and fulfilling career in a supportive environment.

You will be contractually enrolled into the Teachers' Pension Scheme (TPS) – one of the largest and most generous defined benefit pension schemes in the country. Find out more about the TPS.

If you are, or have been, a recent member of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) directly prior to joining us, you can choose to opt out of the TPS and remain in the USS. Please contact the Pensions team to discuss options available.

For this job, we particularly welcome applications from minority ethnic applicants who are underrepresented in this area/ this type of job at Sheffield Hallam.
