Lancaster University Law School is a vibrant school that combines the disciplines of Law and Criminology. Having doubled in size in four years, the School is looking to expand its activities even further with this post. We seek a Lecturer in Law to contribute to the School's Healthcare Law teaching and to deliver sessions across our core modules, with coverage in Tort or Public Law desirable. The post will be offered on either a Teaching & Research or Teaching & Scholarship basis.

You will contribute to the School's undergraduate and postgraduate level modules as required and you will be expected to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students. You will also take on administrative duties and/or leadership roles as requested by the Head of School.

For the Research & Teaching role you will pursue impactful research and deliver publications of a high quality and at a level appropriate for a strong submission to the next Research Excellence Framework. For the Scholarship & Teaching role you will be required to develop a programme of personal scholarship in your chosen field of study, applying this to your teaching and leadership activities.

The Law School is consistently ranked in the top 20 in the UK league tables and is currently placed 11th in the Times University Rankings and 17th in the Complete University Guide. Lancaster Law School has a vibrant teaching and research culture, with interdisciplinary collaborations, and a tailored programme of staff mentoring and support.

The Law School has over 50 full-time academic members of staff and is committed to having a positive impact on people's lives as well as academic excellence – over 80% of the School's research was rated as being internationally excellent or world leading in the 2021 Research Assessment Exercise. We excelled in particular in relation to impact, being ranked at 6th in the Unit of Assessment. The Law School is also committed to innovation and excellence in teaching, learning and assessment and has recently developed a number of employability modules that has seen us being ranked #1 in the Times Good University Guide for employability.

Staff in the School continue to benefit from Lancaster's strong commitment at institutional and School level to the provision of an environment that encourages and supports research and scholarship. The Law School is proud of its friendly, co-operative ethos that promotes collaborative working and the sharing of research and teaching experiences. Both research and scholarship are supported through a structured staff development programme, the allocation of a mentor and ongoing sabbatical leave (for both research and scholarship staff).

This post is available at the level of Grade 7 or Grade 8, please indicate the Grade to which you are applying in a supporting statement uploaded to the application system.
