Fixed Term Whole-time Post

(until 31st August 2027)

UCC wishes to appoint a scholar of distinction to the position of Lecturer in Ethnomusicology. Reporting to the Head of the Department of Music, the Lecturer in Ethnomusicology will make a key contribution to teaching and research in the area of Ethnomusicology at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The appointee will be expected to teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Ethnomusicology including core modules, modules in their areas of specialization, and/or a foundational world music course or ensemble, and have teaching interests in one or more of the following areas:

Music of East Asia

Global Popular Music

Music/dance traditions of a major world region

Music perception

Appointment may be made on the Lecturer (Below the Bar) Salary Scale: €39,787 - €68,943 (Scale B) / €41,814 - €65,603 (Scale A).

Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy .
