Position Description:

The Department of Communication Studies is seeking a Lecturer to begin August 16, 2023 for a 100% appointment. The successful candidate will teach a variety of undergraduate courses in the Communication Studies major. We welcome applications from scholars of all methodological orientations and theoretical approaches, though expertise in interpersonal and family communication is desired, along with research and teaching experience that focuses on justice, equity, and community engagement. Courses assigned may include introductory, intermediate, and advanced undergraduate courses in communication practices, theory, and methods. Candidate should provide evidence of teaching effectiveness, and the successful completion of a thesis defense is required by the start date.

The successful candidate will join a vibrant intellectual community with faculty from diverse research backgrounds, including: Interpersonal Communication and Relationships; Media History Culture; and Rhetoric, Culture, Engagement. Thus, the successful candidate should have an appreciation for working alongside colleagues from both humanistic and social scientific perspectives. The successful candidate will have access to the Department's communication interaction labs, several research workstations, as well as the department participant pool. Education Requirement:

PhD Communication Studies or related field and the successful completion of a thesis defense required by start date.

Required Qualifications:

Evidence of teaching effectiveness.

Desirable Qualifications:

Ability to teach large lecture courses and supervise TAs who will teach discussion sections, as well as pedagogical experience in smaller classroom settings; expertise in interpersonal and family communication; research and teaching experience that focuses on community engagement.
