Position Summary
The HEB School of Business invites part-time faculty candidates for the
position of Lecturer-Health Administration/Healthcare Marketing. Position will
teach an evening in-person and/or online (synchronous) graduate course in
Healthcare Marketing Management in the Master of Health Administration
program. Note that this evening course assignment will require some daytime
meetings with students. This course is taught each spring in respective
program. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest
standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. Official
duties and responsibilities of faculty members at the University include
teaching, scholarship, service, and professional activities as assigned.
An intrinsic excitement about teaching and interaction with students is highly
valued at UIW.
This position is considered a “Responsible Employee” under Title IX federal
regulations and “Mandatory Reporter” under Texas state law and the UIW Sexual
Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you as the
employee to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive
information about Title IX violations. These reporting responsibilities are
set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.
Essential Functions
Basic Instructional Duties:
Prepare course outlines and teach based on approved departmental syllabi; prepare and deliver consistent, interactive lectures.
Prepare timely and meaningful assessments for assigned courses; post coursework and assignments to the Canvas learning management system, and report final grades and student competency assessment outcomes data.
Work collaboratively with departmental faculty to ensure standard curriculum outcomes are met.
Adhere to UIW policies and procedures, including timely record keeping of student activities, fair and equitable evaluation of student performance, and timely feedback to students regarding their performance in the course.
Be available outside of class to help students learn as well as answer their questions (1 hour per 3-hour class, physically and/or electronically).
Conduct respectful relationships with faculty, staff, and students both in and outside the classroom.
Maintain contact with the department chair and participate in meetings upon request.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Dynamic teaching skills to engage students in thought provoking
discussions as they relate to marketing concepts applied to the healthcare
sector.
Ability to apply research skills and techniques to guide students through
conducting and preparing a market analysis and plan to include a business
case analysis.
Ability to teach innovative thinking skills using the Lean Canvas and the
design thinking process, among other applications, guiding students to
develop an innovative product or service upon which their marketing plan
will focus.
Ability to effectively learn, use, and incorporate instructional
technology into teaching;
Willingness and flexibility to teach day, evening and weekend sections as
needed;
Ability to incorporate technology into teaching;
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and
cultures.
Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the
University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education
Earned Doctorate in Health Services Management, Health Administration
Research, Healthcare Marketing or related degree. Note that a Master's Degree
with related healthcare marketing work experience will be considered in lieu
of said doctorate education.
Required Work Experience
Prior teaching experience, or
Work experience in healthcare marketing field and/or
Work experience in the healthcare administration field.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience teaching a graduate course in healthcare marketing.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
None.
Work Hours
Note this assignment requires teaching an evening class (6:00 to 10:00
p.m. (CST)) once a week for eight weeks during the 2024 Spring
semester, 1st term.
The in-person course is taught at the UIW Rosenberg School of Optometry
located at 9725 Datapoint Drive, and the online course is taught via Zoom
on a separate night.
