£34,980 rising to £38,205 , pro rata Part Time, Permanent - Academic

The Centre for Academic Development is recruiting for a Learning Development Tutor who will be an expert in academic skills development and will work with both staff and students to help students reach their academic potential.

This is a permanent, part time (0.8 FTE) post.

You will be

  • Helping students at all levels to improve their academic literacies through 1:1 teaching sessions, tailored to their needs.

  • Teaching small and large group study skills sessions across a range of subject disciplines.

  • Liaising with colleagues in faculties and departments in developing collaborative initiatives.

  • Drawing from current best practice in learning development to help students at Brookes have an inclusive learning experience.

  • You should have

  • An honours degree or equivalent, PGCE or other teaching qualification or relevant work experience.

  • Experience of teaching in HE in the area of academic / study skills development, both 1:1 and in small and large groups.

  • Excellent teaching and communication skills.

  • Ability to establish good rapport with students, staff and the wider community.

  • Good IT skills and the ability to use a range of software packages.

  • Ability to work independently on own initiative.

  • Able to deal with staff and students with confidential issues.

  • Flexible and adaptable in managing a varied workload in a fast-changing environment.

  • A demonstrable commitment to student achievement and to enhancing the student experience.
