Job Description	Position Overview The Xu Lab, in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Marshall University’s Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, is seeking a part-time technician. The primary objective of this position is to construct genetic mutants of Streptococcus pyogenes. Key Responsibilities Mutant Construction: Design and generate targeted gene mutations in streptococcal strains. Molecular Cloning: Perform PCR, restriction cloning, plasmid purification, and gel electrophoresis. Bacterial Transformation: Introduce recombinant DNA into bacteria using electroporation or chemical competence. Strain Verification: Validate mutant strains using screening PCR and DNA sequencing data analysis. Inventory Tracking: Maintain clean records of primers, plasmids, and newly created glycerol stocks.

Salary Range	Salary is commensurate with experience and internal equity

Required Qualifications

Education	Bachelors Degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related biomedical field
Experience	Experience: Prior hands-on experience with molecular cloning protocols is highly preferred. Core Skills: Proficiency in aseptic technique, bacterial culturing, and standard PCR assays. Attributes: Strong attention to experimental detail and reliable data documentation habits.
