We are seeking an enthusiastic and versatile Laboratory Technician to join our technical support team in the School of Science and the Environment.

Working primarily in the Biological Sciences subject areas you will provide technical support to our teaching and research laboratories.

Your role will mainly involve supporting laboratory practical sessions, preparing, and setting out equipment and materials, assisting tutors with a class, working closely with students to explain and demonstrate experiments and how to use equipment, as well as supporting students with research projects. You will also support the running of the prep rooms and research labs.

It is essential that you have a degree in a biological or related science subject, some previous laboratory experience and good knowledge of health and safety. You will be highly organised, and have excellent communication skills, additionally you will have the ability to organise reagents and manage time, as well as the ability to organise your own workload and take initiative as appropriate.
