Laboratory, Purchasing and Facilities Technician

Working as part of the Laboratory & Facilities team, you will support the Deputy Laboratory and Facilities Manager to provide a high level of support across a multitude of areas.

Your duties will include supporting Medicine Containment Laboratories (CL1, 2 and 3), in embedded areas of the Hospital. Main duties include collecting laboratory waste for sterilising using autoclaves, handling liquid nitrogen vessels and compressed gas cylinders, glass washing, supervising cold rooms, clerking in deliveries in Goods-In, purchasing consumables, maintaining good housekeeping of communal areas, and flagging any Health & Safety concerns.

The role may include facilities duties within other buildings, such as movement of compressed gases and liquid nitrogen tanks providing cover for the other facilities teams in times of absence. Full details of the role can be found in the accompanying Further Particulars.

The successful candidate will be computer literate and able to work flexibly and support the other team members. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential as the role involves interacting with the wider Department.
