Birkbeck, University of London, has an excellent opportunity for a Laboratory Assistant and Demonstrator.

Within the School of Natural Sciences, you will be responsible for providing general technical support for research and teaching laboratories, including maintaining instruments, materials preparations, training and assisting users, and attending and demonstrating in classes, as required.

You will be experienced at working independently, and (in line with all relevant health and safety requirements) in a biochemical and/or biophysical laboratory setting, and have a proven expertise in a range of techniques, including protein and/or high performance liquid chromatography, and spectroscopic assays.

You will also have experience of working with students and/or facility users to support their research and training requirements and have excellent subject knowledge and communication skills. You should have a BSc or equivalent in a relevant subject area and ideally have, or be working towards, a postgraduate qualification in a laboratory based discipline.

Remuneration

£18,571 rising to £21,183 pro rata, per annum (£37,143 - £42,365 FTE), 0.5FTE, Grade 6 of the College's London Pay Scale.
