L/SL in Mental Health Nursing 0.8 FTE
Job description
The University of Bedfordshire is an ambitious, modern university; one that is always open to fresh ideas and thinking. Our staff combine the very best professional practice with inspirational teaching and the University is consistently in the top quartile of the NSS for higher education institutions in the UK for nursing, exceeding the sector average in almost every area of the survey (NSS, 2026).
This is an exciting time to join the University, with our new University Transformation programme, which will see us strive to strengthening our financial sustainability and improving how we work to deliver the best possible outcomes for our students, and lead by our brand new Vice Chancellor. The University is poised for the next phase in its development as we seek to develop our impact further, enrich the student experience through innovative and career powered education, and realign our professional services in support of our strategic aims.
Role responsibilities: these will involve facilitating learning across different modes, including classroom, web-based media and in clinical settings, including simulated practice learning, with an emphasis on simulated practice learning. There is an expectation of pastoral support for students, academic assessment and the supervision of student projects. You may also be required to undertake module leadership/specific project leadership as appropriate.
Applicants: Need to be a NMC Registered Nurse in Mental Health Nursing. You will be a graduate and have recent experience of dealing with student nurses either in a Higher Education Institution or in clinical practice. You will have demonstrable ability to work within a team and possess effective communications skills. A post-graduate qualification in a relevant area is desirable. A teaching qualification or willingness to undertake one will be essential. We would be open to secondment opportunities with our strategic NHS partners.
For further information about this role, please contact Paul Maloret, Head of School – [email protected] or Claire Kane, Principal lecturer and nursing portfolio lead [email protected].
All applications are to be made in full and online. Please note that if you do not have permission to work in the UK, UoB will not be able to obtain a Certificate of Sponsorship for you to take up this position. All non EU/EAA candidates must have valid immigration status and/or a UK visa valid for the duration of the contract in order to be considered for this appointment.
At UoB equality of opportunity and diversity is at the heart of all we do and fully integrated into our values. Our aim is to create an inclusive environment where everyone thrives and feels a sense of belonging. We are committed to diversity and welcome applications from different backgrounds and experiences.
Closing date: 9 October 2026
Interview date: To be confirmed
We kindly request that all applicants refrain from canvassing during the shortlisting process. Your applications will be thoroughly reviewed, and you will be contacted and informed of the outcome in due course.

The post will be based at the Luton campus, with the expectation to teach in Aylesbury and at other locations as required.

At the University of Bedfordshire, inclusivity is a key University value, and we are committed to creating an environment in which we celebrate and value the diversity of our staff and student community and provide fair opportunity and outcomes for all.
We recognise that diversity fosters creativity and innovation, and we want our community to represent and benefit from opportunities that the diversity of talent and thought creates.
We, therefore, particularly encourage applications from candidates who are likely to be underrepresented in the University of Bedfordshire's workforce. These include people from Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority backgrounds (particularly in roles in grades 7 and above), disabled people; LGBTQ+ people; and women in some senior grades.
The University has a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.
We offer a range of employee benefits including a generous pension and annual leave entitlement, free fitness classes and gym membership, flexible working arrangements, personal and professional development, and family-friendly policies. For further details, please click here.
