  • About This Opportunity

    We have a great opportunity for an experience and highly motivated Knowledge Translation and Engagement Manager to join the RECOVER Injury Research Centre, in the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences.

    As the Knowledge Translation and Engagement Manager, you will be responsible for leading the translation and dissemination of RECOVER's research activities and outputs, as well as the management of our Consumer and Community Involvement (CCI) in research program.

    You will work closely with the Director and Research Program Leaders to analyse planned and ongoing projects to facilitate translation and dissemination of research activities with the overall aim of supporting our researchers in knowledge translation and the development of best practice approaches in the areas of consumer and community involvement and inclusion in research. Your responsibilities will contribute significantly to the overall success and effectiveness of our research initiatives.

    Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    Translate and Disseminate research

  • Leading and managing the analysis and development of knowledge translation plans for all research projects.

  • Ensuring ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of the translation activities in keeping with RECOVER's KPIs and ensure continuous improvement.

  • Relationship Development and Management

  • Manage RECOVER's Consumer and Community Involvement (CCI) in Research program to maximise the Centre's capacity in CCI.
  • Operational Activities

  • Leading operational planning to implement translation of RECOVER's research projects, as required, in clinical and service provision organisations where behavioural changes are justified by research evidence.

  • Providing strategic and operational advice to the Director, research staff and professional staff regarding knowledge translation and CCI in research.

  • Producing reports as required for RECOVER senior executive team, Motor Accident Insurance Commission (MAIC) and other research funders and also for the University demonstrating the effectiveness of translation plans and approaches, including case studies of research impact.

  • This is a full-time (100%), fixed-term position through to 31st December 2024. RECOVER Injury Research Centre's contract is due for renewal on 31st December, 2024. Should the RECOVER funding contract be renewed, this position has the possibility of being extended.

    At HEW level 8, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $108,975 - $122,176, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $127,500 - $142,946 annually. As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.

    About You

    You will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • A post-graduate degree in health, public policy, science communication or a related discipline with subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent, alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.

  • An understanding of current theories and practices of knowledge (or research) translation, Consumer and Community engagement in research and practical experience in applying these.

  • An understanding of policy development and clinical practice development and improvement process, and how research can be and/or is utilised within these environments.

  • Sound understanding of a range of research methodologies.

  • High-level written skills to compose and deliver reports and proposals within the University and to external organisations.

  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills in dealing with a broad range of individuals, groups and organisations including the ability to foster effective collaboration.

  • Planning, time management, problem-solving skills and ability to influence and elicit cooperation.

  • Ability to develop, review and/or revise innovative and effective systems and processes to support translation and related data capture.

  • High level computer proficiency including competency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, databases, Internet software and the University's in- house programs, or the capacity to acquire knowledge of their use.

  • Project management experience.
