IT Technician/IT Officer (holding the functional title of AI Developer) (several posts) in the Teaching and Learning Innovation Centre (TALIC) (Ref.: 524398)

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is a leading global university focused on both research and teaching excellence. The Teaching and Learning Innovation Centre (TALIC) is tasked with supporting and enhancing teaching and learning across all Faculties at HKU by promoting best practices in pedagogy, assessment, technology enhanced learning and feedback in higher education that are informed by educational research.

The Role

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain responsive, user-friendly web and mobile applications;
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs;
  • Familiarize with Event-driven architecture and Test-driven development;
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues in production and UAT environments in a timely manner;
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies, particularly in deep learning and generative AI.

    • Qualifications and Qualities

  • A Bachelor's degree/Higher Diploma in Computer Engineering/Science or a related discipline;
  • Knowledge of mobile app development frameworks such as Flutter;
  • Familiarity with database technologies such as MySQL/Postgresql or MongoDB;
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
  • Strong understanding of deep learning and generative AI such as PrivateGPT or Stable Diffusion;
  • Good knowledge of Learning Management Systems like Moodle/OpenEdx is a plus.
  • Those with more experiences and/or higher qualifications may be considered for appointment as IT Officer.

    • What We Offer

    The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
