IT Officer in the School of Public Health (Ref.: 527549) (to commence
as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term or one-year temporary term
contract, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance
and funding availability)
Qualifications and Qualities
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software
Engineering or related disciplines.
At least 3 years of development and managerial work experience in various
IT areas. They should be familiar with software installation, technical
support, administration of PC, macOS and Linux, administration of NAS, web
programme language in PHP and Javascript, database management systems
using Microsoft SQL Server and MarieDB.
Knowledge in Content Management System, multimedia production, video
conferencing would be an advantage.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey
technical information to non-technical staff members.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.
Be pleasant with positive mindset, good team player and willing to learn
new technologies and techniques.
Be able to demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility and be self-
motivated.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently or as part of a
team.
The Role
Coordinate with vendors on purchasing, tendering, and maintenance
processes as per the project team's requirements.
Perform Computer installation, frontline technical support and
troubleshooting.
Manage software and hardware inventory.
Administer video conferencing systems.
Maintain web application systems.
Enhance data management and security procedures, guidelines, and
standards.
Provide maintenance and support for a research portal.
Provide support in events and training sessions.
Provide general administrative support to the office operations.
Assist in designing promotional materials for the project.
Coordinate with major stakeholders and media outlets to publicize the
project and its activities.
Perform any other duties as assigned.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The
appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University
contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 10% of basic
salary.
