IT Officer/ IT Technician for Data & Security Team (2 posts) in the Information Technology Services (Ref.: 531066)

Information Technology Services (ITS) provides central IT services to support the University's teaching, learning, research and administrative activities. ITS is transforming its organization to support its new strategic development and strategic adoption of new technologies. We are seeking high caliber candidates to support different IT services and new development. Information about ITS can be obtained at https: // www. its.hku.hk/.

The Role

  • Responsible for data and security services
  • Organize and promote events to raise awareness of cybersecurity among University members
  • Ensure compliance with the University's Information Security and Data Management policy
  • Provide emergency support for security operations
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on security device operations
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices to protect campus network against cyberattacks
  • Recommend and enforce security policies, procedures and standards to ensure information security, data privacy and its integrity
  • Develop and support information security systems in detecting, alerting and mitigating cyberattacks
  • Provide second level support regarding data and security services
  • Perform other duties as assigned

    • Qualifications and Qualities

    IT Officer:

  • Must possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of working experience in IT.

    • IT Technician:

  • Must possess a Higher Diploma or higher in a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of working experience in IT.

    • Applicants should

  • have excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
  • have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese;
  • have knowledge of IT services and applications;
  • have good organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • have at least one of the following experience / knowledges:
  • Sound knowledge of network infrastructure, information security, and data management.
  • Operating, monitoring and managing security devices
  • Handle cases of computer abuse and answer the related enquiries
  • Security incident response
  • Strong background in planning, coordinating, and promoting events within an organization
  • Skilled in engaging with internal stakeholders

    • Applicant with relevant experiences or qualifications would be advantageous:

  • Microsoft Power Platform (including Power App, Power BI, Power Automate)
  • System programming on security devices, e.g. Shell Script, Python, YARA-L, Java, etc.
  • ITIL or PRINCE2
  • CCNA or CCNP
  • CISA, CISM or CISSP
  • NG firewalls
  • SIEM
  • Microsoft Power Platform (including Power App, Power BI, Power Automate)
  • System programming on security devices, e.g. Shell Script, Python, YARA-L, Java, etc.

    • What We Offer

    The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years and commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
