The Research Unit Forest Health and Biotic Interactions investigates the influence of biotic and abiotic factors on forest health and develops the scientific foundations for the protection of forests and their biodiversity. Internship insect-plant interactions on ash trees 80-100% (f/m/d)As part of a project on invasive ash pests, the interaction between two alien organisms (ash dieback pathogen and the emerald ash borer Agrilus planipennis) is investigated using behavioral studies. You will support various experiments in the greenhouse and be involved in maintaining the emerald ash beetle colony. Through this internship you will gain knowledge in the laboratory and will be introduced to the work in biosafety levels 2 & 3. You will also gain insight into successfully conducting behavioral and developmental experiments with insects and insect rearing.
You have a bachelor's or master's degree in biology, environmental sciences, or a related field. You have a flair for insects and plants and preferably have experience working in the lab and greenhouse. You are used to work in a team and speak German and/or English.
