The International Student Advice Officer will support the university’s recruitment and retention activities by the provision of student-centred advice and guidance on a wide range of immigration and international student issues for the University of Northampton’s cohort of international students. The postholder will be expected to deliver an excellent international student experience and proactively support the Senior International Student Advice Officer in implementing new approaches to the provision of international student advice.

The postholder will also be expected to contribute to the delivery of other key functions of the Immigration and Compliance Team such as Engagement monitoring activities and ensuring that Home Office reporting is completed in line with specified deadlines.

About You

The post holder will be a skilled communicator with excellent attention to detail. The post holder will be able to understand complex regulations and information and apply them to their work. The post holder will have some prior knowledge and experience of immigration advice and the Home Office’s rules relating to international students. The post holder will be an effective team player who can present complex information to a wide range of colleagues. The post holder will be committed to providing excellent advice and guidance to international students and staff on a wide range of immigration and international student matters. The postholder will be expected to deliver excellent international student experience and proactively contribute to the delivery of new approaches to the provision of international student advice.

  • Postgraduate qualification in a subject relevant to Higher Education

The Immigration Compliance Service is a busy and vital team at the heart of the University’s student support and administrative infrastructure. We work alongside colleagues in Faculties, Student Support, Admissions, and Student Records, to provide coherent and efficient services which support students, provide effective reporting, and maintain the University’s compliance with the conditions of its sponsor licence. The team plays a vital role in maintaining the University as an attractive destination for international students.
