  • Role Description

Spanning the arts, humanities, sciences, and social sciences, the University of York prizes both the discovery of knowledge and the resulting impact it brings to our society. A key aim of the new University Research Strategy is to drive the development of curiosity-driven and action-oriented research, embracing the complexity and uncertainty that arise in an increasingly interconnected, rapidly changing world.

Our thriving academic community is supported by a dedicated team of colleagues working in the Research, Innovation, and Knowledge Exchange (RIKE) Directorate, including the Internal Funding Team (IFT) who support the management of the growing recurrent internal funding programmes at the University and RIKE-led projects and programmes. The funds under RIKE management support the development of research, knowledge exchange and impact in line with the University's strategic objectives and include the Research Development Fund (RDF), HEIF (Research England), Impact Acceleration Accounts and other allocations (UKRI Research Councils) and internal University pump priming funds, as well as various smaller externally sourced funds.

The IFT now sits alongside the Internal Programmes Team (IPT) which includes a dedicated Programme Manager with responsibility for overseeing and directing internal programmes. Reporting to the IPT Programme Manager, the IFT Coordinator will oversee the pre-award funding functions, working with IPT colleagues, Fund Managers, and Academic Leads to manage the funding application process, in parallel with other RIKE-led proposals. The IFT Coordinator will line-manage two IFT Administrators, who run day-to-day pre- award administration. In addition, the IFT Coordinator will support the IPT Programme Manager to ensure the pre-award service is efficient, robust, and functions effectively.

The University strives to be diverse and inclusive – a place where we can ALL be ourselves.

We particularly encourage applications from people who identify as Black, Asian or from a Minority Ethnic background, who are underrepresented at the University.

We offer family friendly, flexible working arrangements, with forums and inclusive facilities to support our staff. #EqualityatYork
