  • ARU Police Education - Instructor in Police Education - Metropolitan Police Service

    About the role:

ARU are delighted to be working with The Metropolitan Police and the Seven Police Forces in the Eastern Region – Essex, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Kent, Norfolk and Suffolk – to train the Police Officers of the future. We are offering the new Police Education Qualification Framework (PEQF) Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) and the Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP) developed by the College of Policing.

As result we have new job opportunities in the coming months, and we are excited to be offering these to you. This is a chance to be involved in shaping the Police Officers of the future and get involved in an industry leading program.

The PEQF aims to further professionalise policing as a career, by both recognising and raising educational standards, and ARU has been selected by the Seven Force Strategic Collaboration Programme and the Metropolitan Police to provide the educational training for two new entry routes into the profession.

New Police Constables will enrol on a three-year Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA), which combines a degree programme with on-the-job training, while a two-year Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP) will be available for new recruits who already have a degree.

In this round, we are looking for Instructors to deliver police education (lectures, seminars, tutorials, etc.) and support the Academic Lead with programme review and development.

This post will be located at our campus in East London.

You will work with colleagues from our partner, Babcock International and the Metropolitan Police, and you will be responsible educating cohorts of Student Police Officers studying on the PCDA / DHEP.

    Instructor - £38,565 - £44,000 (inclusive of £2,725 market supplement)

All our Instructors need the minimum of a degree, and a demonstrable willingness to work towards a higher qualification. Instructors will also need to have professional experience of policing. Knowledge of PCDA/DHEP programme/module leadership is desirable.

Please note, background checks will be conducted on all applicants and will include successful clearance from the College of Policing barring list. Successful candidates will also require Non Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) full clearance as you will have unsupervised access to police premises.

The ability to travel between police establishments and ARU campuses is required for roles within the ARU PEQF programmes.

Please contact Claire Bacon, Police Education Principal Instructor, at [email protected] for an informal discussion.

We value diversity at ARU Direct and welcome applications from all sections of the community.

Committed to being inclusive and open to discuss flexible working.

We have a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.

In accordance with the UK Government's immigration points-based system, this post does not meet the characteristics of a skilled job including salary criteria to be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route.
