About the role

Staffordshire University has embarked on an ambitious and unique transformation in the Higher Education sector where we strive to become the UK's leading Digital University. To help deliver this, we're looking for a talented, creative and innovative Infrastructure Architect, a highly specialised technical role pivotal in the design, delivery and technical road- mapping of server, storage and Azure Cloud services across the University, to join our Infrastructure Team.

Main Responsibilities

The main responsibilities for our Infrastructure Architect will be to:

  • Set and maintain architectural standards ensuring that new technologies, services and infrastructure developments are designed to support the Digital Transformation Strategy and the university's 2030 Strategic Plan, delivering services that are secure, highly available, cost-effective and resilient.
  • Daily co-ordination of work schedules for projects and day to day activities within the team, acting as an escalation point for any problems or queries needing technical guidance.
  • Develops and oversees formal procedures to plan and test proposed solutions, as well as procedures for problem recovery.
  • Provide monthly statistics, reporting and commentary for Cloud consumption, ensuring services are appropriately scaled for efficiency and value.
  • Advises management of significant developments with regard to existing and emerging system software. Plans projected software requirements and provides technical advice when needed by other teams.
  • Infrastructure subject matter expert providing advice and support across teams and stakeholders, informing digital and transformation activities in alignment with existing strategies.
  • This is a great opportunity for a skilled Infrastructure Architect with proven experience and knowledge in Cloud technologies, Systems Management, Identity Management, networking, databases, data storage and strategy, focused on making a positive difference.
