About the Role
The Information Technologist: Help Desk will work as a member of the IT Help Desk team supporting the University's large and complex IT, audio visual and telecommunications environment. The Information Technologist will provide technical support for the administration and maintenance of the Service Desk tool and high quality computing support, considerable problem solving experience and technical advice to the University community in a fast paced, dynamic and challenging environment which embraces change and innovation.

The IT Help Desk is the first point of contact for IT, audio visual, telephony and learning management system support for staff and students across the University. The IT Help Desk plays a vital role in resolving issues where possible and escalating to the appropriate area when necessary.
Staff work closely with second and third level IT support teams within ISTS in support of the services they provide. The team is required to communicate effectively with staff and students at all levels when resolving incidents reported to the IT Help Desk.
The University's IT desktop environment is based on industry standard hardware, software, protocols and procedures. The configuration of these elements and the way they interact with each other to provide specific services in a secure environment requires detailed industry technical knowledge and an understanding of personal computers, operating systems, servers, networks and application software.
Staff on the IT Help Desk are required to understand a wide range of IT applications and services within the complex and evolving IT environment of the University so that they can provide effective support for customers at the first point of contact.
