The Role

We are looking for independent assessors to undertake the End Point Assessment of our Food

Technology degree apprentices in accordance with the assessment plan for the Apprenticeship Standard for Food Industry Technical Professional Degree Apprenticeship STO197/01.

In order to be considered, you will:

- Hold a degree in a related area such as Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, Microbiology or Nutrition;

- Have significant experience in the food and drink industry;

- Complete a minimum of 5 days food and drink related continuing professional development per year;

- Be a member of a relevant professional body.

Please note, this role will be paid on a casual basis through our University payroll, subject to the usual tax and national insurance requirements.

The Food Industry Technical Professional Team

The level 6 degree apprenticeship BSc (Hons) Professional Practice in Food Technology is taught by academics and industry specialists in food, sited within the division of Sustainable Futures and Supply Chain in Sheffield Business School. Academics in this team support the delivery of a varied portfolio of Food and Nutrition undergraduate, postgraduate and apprenticeship education.

The Course Leader for BSc (Hons) Professional Practice in Food Technology is a key contact for independent assessors and, along with the academic coach and our team of experienced and welcoming academics, is responsible for ensuring high quality delivery of this exciting and relevant provision as well as liaising with employers and learners throughout their time with us at Sheffield Hallam University.

The team includes academics with a range of professional backgrounds, from food safety and food chemistry to food technology and product innovation. The course benefits from access to state-of-the-art specialist facilities (including kitchens and laboratories) that are fully supported by specialist technical colleagues with wide-ranging relevant knowledge and skills to further help bring the learning on the course to life.
