As Impact & Knowledge Exchange Manager you will:

  • raise the profile of Birkbeck's research findings and support knowledge exchange for each School in the Faculty
  • be responsible for strengthening the relationship with organisations and employers by working closely with them to develop knowledge exchange opportunities in relation to research, professional development and best practice
  • keep abreast of the latest policy developments concerning impact and knowledge exchange, and convey this to academics in relation to specific disciplines, in order to encourage discipline-appropriate impact and knowledge exchange activities
  • report on knowledge exchange and other activities as appropriate to satisfy reporting requirements such as REF and HEBCIS
  • play a critical role in Birkbeck's preparations for REF 2029 by undertaking fact-finding, and other strategic interventions, to support the preparation of, and documentary evidence for, selected REF case studies, and supporting the academic lead.
  • This post represents a unique opportunity to develop cradle-to-grave knowledge of the entire knowledge exchange and impact journey - beginning with supporting academics applying for funding, to ensure impact and knowledge exchange is effectively embedded into their ideas. As well supporting ideas, you'll develop them to fruition with external stakeholders, and then collate the evidence that change has been achieved to narrate these stories for REF.

    About you

To succeed in this role you need to have:

  • a solid understanding of the research process and its translation outside the academy
  • a proven track record in impact, knowledge exchange and or public engagement
