How will you contribute?

You have proven skills and expertise in 5G and 6G technologies, with a focus on applied research activities in open and private networks, Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN), and field testing.

You have extensive experience in collaborative projects and stand at the intersection of research, engineering, and business.

You have the capacity to conceptualize and implement disruptive ideas and to chart a development trajectory that is beneficial for both the regional and the European community.

Your specific role will include the following three key missions:

1. Contribute to FNR OPTIWAVE, HE 6G-TWIN, and INTER CANDI RDI projects, focusing primarily on leading the development of prototypes, conducting experimental activities, and formulating exploitation strategies where relevant. Within these projects, the applicant will be asked to: (1) contribute to the development of an EMF exposure measurement platform, (2) support the development of a teleoperated driving use case in collaboration with other project partners, and (3) replicate the OpenAirInterface (OAI)-based platform for 5G D2D communication, developed by EURECOM, in the 6G-Lab in LIST.

2. Contribute to the technical development of the 6G-Lab by (i) advising on the ongoing extension strategy, i.e., identifying the missing components (in terms of hardware and software) needed to support future projects and demonstrators in the areas of private wireless networking and non-terrestrial networking, and (ii) participate in the technical supervising work of other network engineers and interns working in the 6G-Lab.

3. Contribute to the definition of the future 6G roadmap of these projects.

Education and experience

PhD degree in Computer Science or Telecommunication Engineering, with a focus on wireless communications and networking.

You have past experience in acquiring and working on applied research projects in the area 5G/6G networks, both at the national and European level.

Technical competencies

· Extensive experience with 4G and 5G networks and their architectures, combined with in-depth knowledge of evolutionary trends and potential changes towards 6G.

· Extensive experience in implementing wireless communication protocols using Software Defined Radios (SDRs).

· Strong knowledge and experience working with the following tools: OpenAirInterface, GNU Radio, srsRAN, USRP.

· Good knowledge of operating and experimenting with RF and EMF measurement tools.
