HR Team Leader

Department of Chemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR professional to join the Department of Chemistry. The role is responsible for the delivery of HR operations in the Department, primarily around employee resourcing, supervising a team of four (three HR Officers and one Senior HR Officer). Reporting to the Head of HR, you will also support the employee relations and project work within the Department.

About the role: As a senior HR professional, you will work with managers and academic employees to ensure that the recruitment and selection process is fully compliant with University codes of practice. You will also provide support and coaching to managers in handling individual employee cases, referring to the Head of HR or Divisional HR where appropriate. Continuous improvement is essential in this service based environment, so identification of areas which can be enhanced or developed is critical.

About you: You will be CIPD qualified (or have equivalent experience), with experience of managing others, ideally within an HR function. You will have a strong team ethic and a focus on professional service provision. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to support and motivate teams and the ability to influence senior managers and academics are critical within this role.

Your ability to think analytically, to innovate and problem-solve is essential. Sound knowledge and experience of the application of UK employment law and UKBA regulations are required to ensure compliance at all times. The ability to manage and prioritise your own workload, to delegate and escalate effectively, and to meet strict deadlines is essential.

What we offer: The University offers a wide range of benefits which include:

• An excellent contributory pension scheme

• 38 days annual leave

• A comprehensive range of childcare services & family leave schemes

• Cycle loan scheme

• Discounted bus travel and Season Ticket travel loans

• Training and development opportunities
