Brief description of the project:
Thompson Rivers University, Open Learning (TRU-OL) is looking for a qualified content expert/curriculum developer to complete a major revision of HIST 2251: History of British Columbia.
Students will explore the history of British Columbia from the beginnings of Indigenous-European contact through to the early twenty-first century. Students will engage with materials related to the social, economic, political, and cultural development of British Columbia, and situate the province within national and international contexts. Students will primarily learn about Indigenous-European relations, resource extraction, immigration, the modern economy, racialized communities, the changing role of the state, evolving political culture, social reform, gender issues, class relations, and regional qualities. Throughout the course, students will engage in key debates in the historiography of British Columbia. Students will be able to synthesize, critically analyze, and thoughtfully critique these key debates, crafting their own ideas about the history of British Columbia using the material presented in class.
