Through the Department of Education Title V Grant. The position is responsible
for identifying new programs for High Impact Practices and strengthening
existing programs for the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences
(CAHSS) in line with the grant objectives for retention, graduation, and
post-college outcomes.
The position will serve as a member of the Title V Base Grant Team.
The position is a 12-month, full-time position that follows the staff
schedule. This position will not be institutionalized. This position is
funded in whole or in part, by an external grant and is subject to immediate
termination if the grant funding ceases. No employee who is in such a position
may file a grievance over the termination of the position. The current funding
for this position ends on September 30, 2027.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identifies innovative strategies (curriculum revisions, internships,
community partnerships, research opportunities, and community engagement
activities) that shape the student experience and that yield the best
results for HIP programs and grant objectives.
Creates and sustains infrastructure for instructional support, and
curriculum support to promote the meaningful integration of high-impact
practices (HIPs) across CAHSS.
Collaborates with department chairs, faculty and grant team to revise
curricula to incorporate HIPs.
Partners with the Office of Mission, the Office of Community Engagement,
and the Office for Community Based Research to build new and strengthen
existing partnerships for community-based HIPs that support the use of
high impact practices.
Works in partnership with grant team to create system/process for
collecting, evaluating, and creating shared-space for HIP applications to
equitably award grant funding.
Implements identified project activities and monitors progress of grant
objectives related to HIP.
Organizes, develops and conducts relevant workshops, events, speaker
events, mentoring initiatives, and other programs to facilitate program
outcomes.
Maintains filing records as per grant policy and operational functions.
Assembles and disseminates information as requested for internal and
external individuals or organizations.
Assists with the distribution and collections of data/information for the
evaluation of program effectiveness.
Serves as a point of contact and subject matter expert for HIP, will
answer program questions from faculty, staff, and students, serves as
liaison to community agencies, and the general public.
Supports diversity and equity in the teaching and implementation of high
impact practices (HIP) in education and stays abreast of new learning
pedagogies, trends, and developments in the scholarship of teaching and
learning.
Assists with the distribution and collections of data/information for the
evaluation of program effectiveness.
Assists with creating, composing and editing documents, presentations and
reports. Creates and maintains databases.
Assists with the maintenance of student files, program records, program
report; and handles documentation and information as sensitive and
confidential.
Attends regular meetings to review progress and address any challenges to
progress with the Program Director, and other institutional staff. Attends
related conferences.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university required.
D in education, with expertise in High-Impact Practices, preferred.
1 year of experience in curriculum reform, facilitating faculty
professional development, undergraduate teaching experience, developing
and administering surveys, or related experience is ideal.
Must clear and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
Must have a valid driver's license, motor vehicle liability insurance, and
personal injury insurance, or have a self-reliant source of transportation
to conduct business on a daily basis
Must have the ability to demonstrate intermediate skills in MS Office and
Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook and PowerPoint) including
experience with virtual platforms such as Zoom, and ability to utilize
assessment tools such as Qualtrics.
Must have a strong understanding of High Impact Practices in education,
student support programs, student success indicators, and/or learner-
centered and equity minded instructional initiatives in higher education.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong public
relations and customer service skills with an ability to implement
diplomacy and discretion at all times; ability to work effectively with
communities across the university.
Must have high ethical standards and a strong sense of confidentiality;
ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines; thrive in a complex
work environment; display solid problem solving and interpersonal skills;
work well independently and as part of a team; professional demeanor,
appearance and strong work ethic required.

Understanding of the St. Mary's culture and working with first-generation,

and transfer students.
Bilingual Preferred (English/Spanish with the ability to understand and
to make one's self understood to Spanish speaking individuals)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Working conditions are in an office environment and university campus
setting. Must be able to move across the university campus to conduct day
to day business.
While performing this role, the employee will be regularly required to

use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment; and
occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.
