Location: University of Hertfordshire Sports Village, De-Havilland Campus, Hatfield

Performance Herts are experienced UKSCA accredited strength and conditioning professionals based at the University of Hertfordshire. We provide S&C support to a wide range of athletes in a multitude of sports, from grass root development and rehabilitation through to Olympic and World Class performers along with delivering on University degree modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Our partners, clients and athletes include, but is not limited to: EIS, England Squash, England Golf, Arsenal Women's FC Academy, England Women's FA, England Netball, Saracens Mavericks Netball Super League Franchise, TASS, University Scholars, County & Regional Swimming, Netball, Rugby, Golf amongst others.

Our vision is to be the Region's leading Strength and Conditioning facility and service provider. To help us achieve our vision we are looking to recruit an experienced and highly qualified Head of Strength and Conditioning to join our team.

Main duties & responsibilities

To drive performance with relevant multidisciplinary practitioners, teams and partners to provide holistic support, create environments and strategies, and develop systems and processes designed to optimise and develop the support to all athletes.

Oversee and lead by example; the day to day running of the high performance S&C gym, delivery of S&C services to all athletes through the implementation of agreed operating procedures and professional standards, maintain and advance the S&C facility and equipment, management and development of staff and coaching team.

To contribute to the integration and delivery between Performance Herts and the University of Hertfordshire's Institute of Sport (IOS) and School of Health and Social Work (HSK) to ensure that theoretical and applied delivery of teaching and work experience at Performance Herts enhances the vocational relevance of teaching programmes.

Become the technical figurehead for S&C at the University of Hertfordshire and continue to raise the profile of S&C at Performance Herts through quality relationships, networking, and presenting.

Skills and experience required

Significant proven experience in the provision of S&C services to teams and individual athletes up to International level is essential for this role, as well as experience performing needs analyses, planning and implementing diagnostics and monitoring systems and strategic planning of training based on the results. Line management experience and proven experience in presenting is also essential to this role.

Excellent IT literacy will be required as well as being organised, and a great communicator. Experience in lecturing, budget holder responsibilities and with another University or the TASS organisation would be desirable.

You will need to be a knowledgeable, skilled, personable, self-motivated individual with excellent coaching, presentation and communication skills. You must be able to use your own initiative, be pro-active, work well under pressure and be able to work as part of a busy and multidisciplinary team ensuring the entire team work collaboratively and effectively towards the vision and mission of the business.

Qualifications required

A postgraduate degree in S&C, sports science, or related field and a UKSCA accreditation are essential for this role due to a requirement of the role being to lecture at postgraduate level.
