  • About the Role Drive strategic vision and operational excellence for the University's Communications and Marketing function as our Head of Planning and Governance. You'll be the mastermind behind translating Communications and Marketing (C&M) programs into actionable plans, ensuring seamless execution and impactful results. Collaborate with the leadership team to identify opportunities, streamline processes, and champion best practices across the department. Your expertise in cross-functional planning, performance reporting, and risk management will be instrumental in shaping a future-proof C&M landscape.

    As a strategic communicator, you'll also build strong relationships with stakeholders across the University, keeping everyone informed and engaged. This is a stand-alone role where you will have influence and impact. Ready to be the architect of C&M success? We're waiting for you!

    Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and manage the operational rhythm of the function, focussing on integrated planning, budget management and service performance and governance reporting.
  • Proactively manage the strategic investment and operational budgets of C&M, collaborating with the Finance team to enhance tracking and forecasting activities.
  • Work collaboratively with the C&M senior leadership team to translate University-wide plans into clear operational plans, ensuring alignment with overarching goals and objectives.
  • Champion the use of key performance indicators (KPIs) for data-driven decisions, ensuring effective reporting on performance metrics to ascertain achievement of C&M objectives.

    You will also have:

  • Broad work experience within a relevant field and/or shared service management (preferably within the higher education sector) and a post graduate qualification in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing leadership, fostering positive team culture and guiding teams towards achieving key objectives and goals that contribute to the overall success of the division and organisation.
  • Demonstrated financial and business acumen with the proven ability to manage budgets effectively, making informed decisions that contribute to the overall sustainability of the division and organisation.
  • Proven expertise in planning, governance and technical proficiency, with a focus on managing cross-functional programs within a large and complex organisations.
