The Finance Division is integral to the University, aiming to enable world- class research and education by collaborating on sound financial strategy to provide long term resources, underpinned by excellent operational and professional services.
The Pensions Team (10.2 FTE) deals with day to day pensions matters with the University. Staff are members of one of six occupational pension schemes (USS, OSPS, NHSPS, MRCPS, NEST).
The Payroll Team (9.4 FTE) provides a professional and comprehensive service to employees of the University ensuring they are paid accurately and on time, providing advice to senior management as required, and ensuring adherence to University Statues and Regulations and with external legislation.
We are looking for a Head of Pensions and Payroll to manage teams responsible for the payment of more than 22,000 staff and pensioners, and a large number of casual staff, with a total wage bill of nearly £1bn per annum and pension contributions of circa £120m per annum.

About the Role
• Manage and lead Pensions and Payroll teams, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
• Oversee payroll accuracy, pension administration, and regulatory compliance.
• Advise senior leadership on pensions strategy and policy matters.
• Drive system enhancements and process improvements.
About You
• Expert in pensions/payroll management with PMI or CIPP qualification or equivalent experience.
• Proven leadership in a large, complex organisation.
• Strong stakeholder management and strategic thinking skills.
• Proficiency in payroll and pensions systems management.
