Following an internal promotion, we are looking to recruit TWO positions in our Finance department supporting the School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing. The postholders will need to be CCAB qualified accountants with significant experience of working in a large complex organisation and/or Higher Education Institution.

About the Role
The postholder for the Head of Finance role will be responsible for overseeing the finances of SATM. This includes the day to day running of a small team, production of budgets and forecasts, monitoring variance analysis and providing strategic advice to the Pro Vice Chancellor and Director of Finance and Operations.
About You
The position would suit a hard-working, self-motivated, proactive, and reliable person able to work to strict deadlines and take responsibility for their own workload. Good interpersonal skills and a “can do” attitude are essential as there will be frequent contact with customers and University staff.
The successful candidate must be able to build a deep understanding of the school's analytical, information and professional finance support requirements, be able to use that understanding to develop their team into providing an extremely high level of professional finance support. This will include a suite of finance reports tailored to the school's needs that are timely, highly professional, immaculately presented and accurate. It will also include ad-hoc reports of the same standard and general finance leadership, partnership, and advice. The successful candidate must engage and partner with the school's academic community and be an indispensable partner for Budget Holders and Principal Investigators.
You will be CCAB qualified or have equivalent experience in complex organisations; experience of the Higher Education sector would be advantage. With detailed understanding of budgeting and forecasting, and strong analytical skills you will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders.
Experience of working with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word is essential as the work is mainly computer based. Previous experience of computerised accounts systems is also essential, significant experience of the UNIT4 Business World (Agresso) system would be desirable.
