Salary: AM2 £71,653 pa with potential to progress to £76,864 pa by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience

Annual Leave: 30 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: De Havilland Campus, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield

Four-year tenured appointment as Head of Department (Accounting)

The successful candidate will be appointed as Head of Department (Accounting) on a four-year renewable basis, subject to performance. There is no guarantee that this appointment will be extended or renewed beyond the four-year period and if it is not, the post holder will revert to a role commensurate with current responsibilities and pay.

Main duties and responsibilities

The Head of Department (Accounting) is responsible for academic leadership, including operation and quality control of the Accounting modules and programmes, and the efficient, high-quality operational coordination of the departmental teaching staff. The Head of Department is also responsible for managing relevant accreditation (e.g. ACCA) as well as leadership within the School as defined by the Deputy Dean.

Skills and experience required

You will have membership of the Higher Education Academy, and experience of teaching and leading modules and programmes across a range of levels of study at undergraduate and postgraduate. You may have experience of executive programmes. You will have clear Accounting expertise and an ambition to deliver transformative opportunity to a new generation.

Qualifications required

You will hold a Master's Degree in a relevant subject or proven relevant work experience and be a member of a relevant professional body, or have equivalent experience. You will also hold membership of the Higher Education Academy or other teaching qualifications.
