Job description

The Digital Department are looking for P ermanent Head of Delivery!

Full time (36.5 hours per week)

Hybrid working – This is a hybrid role that offers flexible working between home and our Streatham Campus.

As the Head of Delivery you will be responsible for the successful delivery of digital products and services, optimising digital operations for efficiency and value creation. You will be at the forefront of driving and overseeing the adoption of Agile principles, practices, and methodologies within the University of Exeter. This role will be essential in not only ensuring the continuous improvement of our digital department but also in helping us work better in order to foster a transformational environment in which we can achieve our ambitious digital strategy.

What you'll be doing…

  • Establish ways of working and operating models to deliver digital products and services aligned with the university's Digital Strategy.
  • Proactively Manage Risks and Dependencies, removing blockers to ensure value delivery.
  • Develop and Manage a function to prioritise, plan, and manage resources and budgets effectively.
  • Validate and Monitor Roadmaps - Ensure product/project roadmaps align with budgets and resources, and report progress to stakeholders.
  • Manage, support, and coach the delivery team, fostering professional development and addressing escalations.
  • Drive Organisational Change: Promote agile and flexible digital delivery methods, encouraging best practices and innovation.
  • Communicate progress and align digital initiatives with the university's strategic objectives, managing complex budgets and resource planning.
  • Develop Contract Management Capability: Implement best practices for managing digital contracts, ensuring they add value and resolving high- risk issues.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans, driving organisational change.
  • Someone skilled in initiating change, fostering innovation and guiding people through their Digital Transformation journey.
  • Extensive experience in Product management and delivery.
  • A leader who can effectively track and communicate delivery progress, while identifying and unblocking bottlenecks to ensure smooth product delivery
  • Experience managing and planning cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Proven experience in managing large resource contracts and implementing best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
