We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to join our team as the Head of
Business Engagement. This pivotal role involves leading the development and
implementation of our business engagement strategy, linking our research,
academics, facilities, and students with industry. You will play a crucial
role in fostering productive relationships, identifying innovative solutions,
and driving new projects that generate surplus for the university.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction for business
engagement, aligning resources to ensure operational efficiency and
collaboration with key stakeholders.
Income Generation: Grow income and secure new external funding to
meet the university's 2030 vision.
Operational Management: Oversee service development, manage
operational planning, and lead strategic projects.
Relationship Building: Develop and maintain relationships with
industry partners, academic departments, and other university teams.
Market Intelligence: Establish the service as a credible source of
business intelligence regarding employer needs and the graduate labour
market.
Team Leadership: Manage and motivate the business engagement team,
ensuring the successful delivery of targets and standards.
Essential Experience/Qualifications/Personal Qualities required
Postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience.
Significant experience in developing new business opportunities and
sustaining income streams.
Proven track record in achieving operational targets aligned with
strategic goals.
Strong business skills and commercial acumen.
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Ability to manage budgets effectively and propose relevant solutions to
client requirements.
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
Ability to motivate oneself and others.
Commitment to outstanding customer service and continuous quality
improvement.
