Group Leader in Somatic Evolution

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and ambitious Group Leader in Somatic Evolution to join the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine.

You will lead a programme of research and develop research questions within the field of somatic evolution in health and diseased tissues responsible for the development of novel computational approaches to gain quantitative insights into the somatic evolution of healthy and diseased tissues. You will take the lead in providing mathematical and computational expertise to a multi-disciplinary team by creating mechanistic mathematical models, developing dynamic simulations, and by performing statistical analysis on a wide range of high-dimensional next generation sequencing data sets.

You will hold a PhD/DPhil in computational and mathematical biology, systems biology or a related field with significant international post-qualification research experience. Experience with population genetics-based mathematical modelling, statistical data analysis and Next Generation Sequencing data is essential. You will have an established international reputation and publication record.

This position is available fixed-term for 5 years, funded by the Medical Research Council and Departmental funds.
