Position Title Grant Manager-College Credit for Heroes
UIW Mission

Position Summary
The Grant Manager-College Credit for Heroes (CCH) is responsible for the
execution of the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) grant with the purpose of
analyzing and developing procedures to assign UIW college course credit for
specific military training. The Grant Manager-College Credit for Heroes
(CCH) reports to the Assistant Registrar, Records.
This is a grant funded position with an anticipated end date of June 2025.
This position may be shortened or extended to a third year based on funds
availability and the needs of the university.
This position is considered a “Responsible Employee” under Title IX federal
regulations and “Mandatory Reporter” under Texas state law and the UIW Sexual
Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you as the
employee to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive
information about Title IX violations. These reporting responsibilities are
set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.

Description of Job Duties
Oversee the execution of the grant and corresponding reporting.
Collaborate with staff from TWC, other CCH colleges, and other
stakeholders to collectively develop standard processes for building and
maintaining connections with military educational entities to ensure
military transcripts are being evaluated to provide the maximum
appropriate college credits. This may require local and some state travel
in said collaborations.
Review military course titles and descriptions for potential UIW
equivalency and route potential equivalency paperwork to CCH Program
Champion Faculty and Deans for approval via the ACE Military Guide portal.
Ensure that official military admission documents are properly reviewed
using appropriate procedure to determine military transfer credits.
Ensure military transfer course credit is properly input and applied into
university systems to facilitate proper degree audit function for students
and advisors.
Investigate the feasibility of collaboration with the military bases to
assess military credit during the transition-period of military from
service prior to separation.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of current best practices in services for veterans and active
duty.
Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with faculty
and staff across campus.
Ability to develop, implement, and assess comprehensive strategies,
policies, and procedures.
Exceptional verbal and interpersonal skills; strong written communicate
skills.
Exceptional organization and problem-solving skills.
Ability to effectively team-build, plan, organize, manage, supervise,
lead, and service customers.
Ability to work in a multi-person office in a team environment.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and
cultures.
Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the
University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education
Bachelor's Degree.
Required Work Experience
Two (2) years of professional experience working with veterans in higher
education, military support, or relevant environment.
One (1) year of experience working with education curriculum
equivalency.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree.
Two to three years of equivalent work experience with the higher education
curriculum.
Experience working with UIW students, programs, and departments.
Military Veteran of the U.S. Armed Services with 2-3 years of experience
working with veterans/military family members.
Experience with the military education portal or working with DoD and VA
education benefits.
Experience with compliance and accounting.
Experience in Student Information Systems, preferably Banner.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Must have a valid driver license, driving record that is insurable by UIW
insurance carrier, and be at least 21 years of age, as required to drive for
UIW.
Work Hours
Mon to Fri from 8am to 5pm with some evening and weekend work to meet
departmental goals.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 20lbs for table and marketing item set-up/tear-down
at events.
Ability to reach overhead, bend, squat to retrieve marketing materials.
Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods of time.
Ability to regularly move about campus and event venues to actively engage
potential and current students, as well as attend meetings on and off
campus.
