  • About the Role The School of Computing and Information Systems invites applications for multiple new Graduate Researcher Academic Associate (GRAA) positions from graduate researchers currently enrolled in the Faculty (in either a Doctor of Philosophy or other research doctorate) with discipline and domain knowledge in at least one of the following subject clusters:

  • Programming Foundations
  • Computer Science
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Information Systems
  • Software Engineering
  • As a GRAA in the School, the position will contribute positively, both individually and as part of a team, to educating, inspiring and supporting students. They will be responsible for carrying out education related activity for one or more subjects within a CIS Subject Cluster. Key education responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching, including through tutorials, seminars, workshops, laboratories and practical/applied sessions
  • Assisting with the development, proof-reading and deployment of teaching materials (e.g., tutorial/lab exercises, assessments & sample solutions)
  • Undertaking preparation and associated work, including teaching and student consultation
  • Regular consultation with students, monitor discussion boards/forums, respond to queries, conduct exam revision sessions
  • Marking a share of project assessment submissions
  • Managing student submissions (e.g. chasing up missing submissions, handling late submissions, handling remark requests, assessment feedback)
  • In addition, you will be supported to participate as a valued academic member of the School in contributing to the School's academic mission, life and community and supported to engage in at least 30 hours of paid professional development annually.

    Who We Are Looking For We are seeking enrolled as a University of Melbourne student undertaking a graduate research degree (either Doctor of Philosophy or other research doctorate) of the Faculty of Engineering and IT with discipline and domain knowledge in one or more of the following CIS subject clusters: Programming Foundations; Computer Science; Artificial Intelligence; Information Systems; and Software Engineering.

    You will be a passionate educator and have the ability to contribute positively, both individually and as part of a team, to educating, inspiring and supporting students. You will also have excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills and excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage one's own time effectively, administer multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.

    This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
