  • About the position

    The La Trobe Graduate Research School supports a dynamic and engaged community of researchers who are enrolled in a research degree at La Trobe University. Reporting to the Graduate Research Operations Manager, this role is responsible for managing the admission and administration of international graduate research candidates, including candidates recruited through global partnerships and joint-PhD programs.

    The incumbent of this role will act as a Graduate Research School expert in matters relating to international education and compliance, ESOS legislation, policy affecting international students, and contribute to the development of policy and procedures to streamline admissions and scholarship processes along with relevant communications and promotional material. The role will additionally support the broader end-to-end management of graduate research candidates as a key member of the Graduate Research School Operations Team and contribute to system and process enhancements.

    Skills and Experience

    To be considered for this position, you will have;

  • A degree with subsequent relevant experience to consolidate the theories and principles learned, or extensive experience, leading to either the development of specialist expertise or to the development of broad knowledge, in technical or administrative fields, or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise of the Australian university system, international education, ESOS legislation and policy affecting international students and international research engagement, including the ability to assess international qualifications against Australian standards
  • Demonstrated ability to gain a conceptual understanding of relevant policies, procedures, or systems and interpretation in the application of policy and/or precedent to perform key tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially the capacity to work collaboratively and cooperatively in teams and with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated organisation skills with an ability to manage several different activities concurrently and to coordinates activities and priorities for self and team
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, documenting and streamlining process
  • Ability to innovate and take responsibility for outcomes
  • Experience in graduate research administration would be desirable, including use of StudyLink and/or SIS
