The successful candidates will work a 10-month appointment for the 2022-23 academic year with the opportunity for renewal of a second year. Each graduate assistant will receive a full tuition waiver, room and board, and an annual stipend of $6,000, paid bi-weekly. These positions will remain open until filled. The anticipated start date for the positions will be August 1.

To be eligible, prospective candidates must be accepted into one of the Master's or Doctorial programs at the University of the Virgin Islands. The Graduate Assistant will report directly to the Athletic Director and gain valuable experience assisting with all aspects of NAIA athletic programs.

Essential Job Functions

In this position, the successful applicant is expected to be able to communicate effectively with all internal and external constituents; have strong initiative and work ethic; possess excellent organizational and time management skills; be customer service oriented; and have a high level of professionalism.

The successful candidate must be able to develop positive relationships with faculty, staff, students, media, alumni, and sponsors while interacting successfully with department personnel and the University Community.

Key Job Responsibilities

The Graduate Assistant for Athletic Administration will be responsible for various aspects of this NAIA program including, but not limited to, assisting the Athletic Director in day-to-day operations; game-day operations; administrative projects and duties, conducting departmental research, student- athlete programming, fundraising, and alumni and community relations. The graduate assistant will also be responsible for managing a student volunteer workforce during home games and tournaments.

  • Candidates must possess excellent written and verbal skills
  • The ability to exhibit professionalism and maintain confidentiality
  • The ideal candidate will have experience as a student leader and/or previous management experience in an athletic program
