Pay Rate $25/hour Minimum Experience/Education

High School graduate and/or some college; and at least 1 year of experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Strong proficiency to fluency in written and spoken Haitian Kreyol, French, and English is strongly preferred.
  • Foreign, language(s) written translational skills are highly preferred.
  • Listening and technical writing skills are strongly preferred.

    • Duties and Responsibilities

  • Read and rewrite technical documents in French, English, and Haitian Kreyol, following established rules pertaining to factors such as word meanings, sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, and mechanics.
  • Serve as an interpreter at seminars, speeches, meetings, teleconferences, and symposia, providing consecutive or simultaneous translation between languages.
  • During simultaneous interpreting, renders oral translation of material at the time it is being spoken. Receive briefing or prepare through reading and study on the subject to be discussed prior to interpreting session. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
