Development, implementation and maintenance of compensation/classification policies and programs in concert with HR leadership. The incumbent administers pay structures, analyzes, and recommends compensation and workforce planning to ensure system sustainability and effectiveness. This position proactively contributes to creating and maintaining Gonzaga University as a welcoming environment for all through program development, best practices, and compliance monitoring​.

  • ​​In partnership with requesting department leadership, HR team members, and budget officers, manage compensation processes to ensure they meet University standards.
  • Conduct position salary analysis and provide recommendations for FLSA classifications and compensation.
  • Develops and maintains HR compensation procedures manual.

  • ​Ensure alignment of classifications and salary with the University compensation philosophy.
  • Monitor external market data to recommend adjustments to overall pay structures, salary ranges, and increases.
  • ​Track, analyze and assess labor costs, other metrics, and budget impacts in partnership with HR Leadership and Finance Office.​
  • Prepares and recommends policies and procedures to ensure the achievement of equitable and competitive employee compensation and classification.​​
  • Administers salary survey participation and integration into Gonzaga compensation structures, facilitates data collection and reporting for various compensation surveys ​​to support compensation programs.
  • Work with divisional leadership, HR staff, and finance to facilitate and support the fiscal year planning and budgeting processes.​

  • ​​​​​​Four (4) or more years' conducting compensation analysis and reporting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of budgeting processes with experience tracking, analyzing and assessing impact of compensation expenses to the overall sustainability of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups or work teams and to explain (technical, financial, etc.) issues​ and deliver challenging messages in a positive and influential manner.
  • Demonstrated technical skills including:
  • ​​Experience with an integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and/or Human Resource Information System (HRIS)
  • Advanced MicroSoft Excel proficiency to manipulate, interpret, and analyze compensation data.Proficiency with data analysis tools
  • Gathering structured data from applications and data warehouses​
  • Experience with large relational databases, data warehousing and data marts​
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce.
  • Desired Qualifications

  • ​Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) or other applicable certification.
  • Experience with MicroSoft Business Intelligence Suite
  • Proficiency with SQL programming language in relational database environment to write, edit, and maintain SQL queries
  • Experience using higher education ERP systems, and talent management software-as-a-service.
  • Higher education compensation experience.
  • Physical / Environmental Qualifications

  • ​​Remain in a stationary position up to six hours a day.
  • Wrist and hand movement related to computer work.
  • Ability to prep for and attend meetings and events across campus in various weather conditions
