We have an exciting opportunity to join our HR Systems team as the Functional Analysis Team Lead. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in managing and enhancing the functionality of the Universities HR Systems, driving continuous improvement to existing systems and supporting projects to deliver new system functionality to meet the evolving needs of HR within the University.

  • About the Role

    Leading one of the three teams within HR Systems you will oversee the workload and priorities of a team of Functional Analysts which support the Universities principal HR System, PeopleXD, alongside other HR Systems, e.g. Health and Safety systems.

    • You will line manage the Functional Analysis team members and oversee their work, ensuring the effective methods of managing workload and priorities are followed.

    • You will ensure that the team resolve support incidents swiftly and escalate to the appropriate software vendor as required, supporting the team as necessary to resolve complex cases.

    • Analyse and implement, or oversee the implementation of, appropriate HR system solutions to ensure the Universities ongoing compliance with changes to legislation, policy and statutory requirements.

    • You will play an integral part in the planning and execution of continuous improvement projects undertaken within the HR Systems team. Working closely with the HR Systems management team to identify, prioritise and plan activities and resource assignment to support the team's various objectives.

    • Regularly meet with system suppliers to review performance against service level agreements, escalate support cases and work with the vendors to ensure resolutions are found.

    • Contribute to the work of HR Systems IT project teams, manage the team's resource in support of projects, and work as part of these teams as required in accordance with the University's project management methodology.

    About you

    • You will be analytical and enjoy solving problems, be able to understand and communicate technical ideas and solutions as well as business requirements, confidently to a range of stakeholders.

    • You will have an ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload across a wide range of projects or workstreams to meet business and user requirements. You will have a track records of working effectively as part of a team, ideally with experience of leading a team.

    • You will have had experience of working within a business systems service desk environment, be familiar with defining and writing reports, able to adapt to changing procedures and technologies and have an ability to identify improvements to systems or processes.

    • Possess high levels of attention to detail and accuracy with a willingness to learn and able to acquire new skills quickly.

    • Familiarity with defining and writing reports using SQL and PowerBI/SSRS, would be welcomed, although training will be provided as appropriate. You will be a confident user of the MicrosoftTM Office toolset, email and web browsers.

    • ITIL and PRINCE2 qualification, or experience in working in projects to a recognised methodology would also be beneficial.

    • You will be expected to handle confidential information within the confines of the Data Protection Act 1998, GDPR and Information Security policies.
