  • Role Description

    About the Role

    As a Firefighter at Cranfield Airport you will carry out rescue and fire- fighting duties, responding to reported incidents at Cranfield Airport and within the wider university campus. This will involve taking appropriate action in line with procedures to preserve life and minimise damage to property whilst also administering medical care if required.

    In addition you will work on an agreed rota to support a wider range of essential operational functions to ensure ongoing efficiency and continuous improvement of the business. These include but are not limited to Wildlife Management, Aerodrome Inspection Duties and Operations.

    About You

    Cranfield Airport is focused on achieving high levels of customer satisfaction and therefore it is essential that you can demonstrate the required level of professionalism and a commitment to client care. In addition you will need show that you can adopt a flexible attitude to work, possess well-developed communication skills and that you have the ability to work effectively within a closely knit team environment.

    As a minimum to meet the requirements of this role you must have a full valid UK driving licence, be medically fit and able to meet the required fitness standards for Firefighters and be willing to undertake regular theoretical and practical training. Previous aviation fire-fighting experience (Civil Aviation Authority - CAA approved certification) would be an advantage as would a LGV2 Licence.

    Holding a Firefighter rank would be beneficial and we encourage applications and discussions from these individuals.

    Cranfield Airport is a commercial and GA airport situated in Class G airspace situated between Bedford and the City of Milton Keynes with a 1799m runway which can accommodate business jets such as the Falcon, Gulfstream and Boeing Business Jet, which currently do not require runway slots.
