The Role:
The Fire Safety Coordinator provides specialist technical, commercial and administrative support to the Fire Safety Team within Estates Operations, which comprises a Fire Safety Manager, a Deputy Fire Safety Manager, and a Fire Safety Advisor. The team has responsibility for ensuring high standards of fire safety across the University Estate, for arranging periodic Fire Risk Assessments and remedial works, and for providing liaison and support on all matters relating to fire safety provision.
The coordinator role provides a key interface between the contractors and consultants delivering fire safety services, and Departmental Fire Safety Managers and stakeholders across the University estate.
The role reports to the Deputy Fire Safety Manager within the Statutory Compliance Section within Estates Operations.
The Statutory Compliance Lead may also from time to time require the role holder to perform other duties appropriate to the grade of the post.
Your role:
To provide specialist technical, commercial and administrative support to the Fire Safety Team, supporting the delivery of fire risk assessments, maintenance of fire safety records, raising and processing of quotations, work orders, contract instructions and the like, maintenance of the Departmental Fire Safety Manager contacts database, and provision of timely performance and management information.
To act as a key management interface between the internal specialists, external contractors and consultants delivering services, and the Departments and Institutions that occupy buildings.
To help drive high standards of fire safety performance across the Estate, including monitoring contractor performance against KPIs and service level agreements, tracking the close-out of remedial works by contractors and Departmental Fire Safety Managers, and preparing regular management information and reports.
The role will also require a high degree of liaison with key Estates Division and University-wide stakeholders as well as third party contractors and consultants in order to ensure that services and projects are delivered in the most beneficial and cost-effective manner.
