This is a key, customer facing role critical to the provision of support to financial systems users and to the Finance Division's reputation supporting its customers.

The University of Oxford is a stimulating work environment, which enjoys an international reputation as a world-class centre of excellence. Our research plays a key role in tackling many global challenges, from reducing our carbon emissions to developing vaccines during a pandemic.

The Finance Division supports the academic, research and administrative community at the University providing sound financial advice and timely information with a range of support services including financial operations, financial reporting, financial support and professional services.

What We Offer

As an employer, we genuinely care about our employees' wellbeing and this is reflected in the range of benefits that we offer including:

• An excellent contributory pension scheme

• 38 days annual leave

• A comprehensive range of childcare services

• Family leave schemes

• Cycle loan scheme

• Discounted bus travel and Season Ticket travel loans

• Membership to a variety of social and sports clubs

• A welcoming and diverse community

About the Role

You will be empowering the Finance Community across the University and supporting them to deliver effective financial administration by offering live system support over multiple platforms. You are critical to enabling smooth operations by managing high priority calls that affect the University's financial systems, and reporting technical issues to the relevant service provider for investigation.

This post would suit someone with a passion for excellent customer service, and experience of working on a service desk or in a similar role with an ability to communicate clearly and concisely. You will also be technically minded, with a logical approach to problem solving.

You will report to the Financial Systems Service Desk Supervisor, and work closely with colleagues across the Financial Processes, Systems and Assurance Team and other colleagues in the Finance Division.

We welcome applications from all sections of the community.

You will be based in Hythe Bridge Street but you may be able to agree a pattern of regular remote working with your line manager.

About You

Effective communication is an essential skill for this role. You will need to diplomatically articulate information to diverse audiences contraining both technical and non-technical individuals.

You will be able to digest the complexities of our systems, technical specifications, how-to's and general guidance around financial processes and procedures to proactively troubleshoot incidents logged with the Service Desk.

Your strong organisational skills and attention to detail will ensure incidents are recorded and resolved in a timely and efficient manner.

The role entails active engagement in collaborative teamwork, coupled with the ability to independently address incoming queries.

With this in mind, you will be a team player and have a flexible outlook. You will also have a keen willingness to learn more about the operation of the Service Desk, the wider Finance Division and the variety of customers we support.

Prior use of Oracle Financials and the Microsoft Office toolset would be advantageous.

Application Process

You will be required to upload a supporting statement, CV and the details of two referees as part of your online application.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on 26/02/2024

Interviews will take place during week commencing 04/03/2024 and will be in perso
